Spring and Fall Semester International Tourism Program

"Going to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico to study my third semester in the International Tourism program was quite a great challenge. What to expect, what to bring ?? Arriving in Merida had a big impact; the directors of Tecnologia Turistica Total and our home stay moms were there to greet us at the airport. What a WARM and a nice welcome!
At first, the language was a little complicated, but the classes sure helped. I made many friends who also assisted me in learning more Spanish. In our Cultural Tourism class, we studied about different attractions and then visited them on the weekends
I learned so much during my ten weeks; it was a great, wonderful experience that I
will remember all my life." LYNNE THERIAULT
TTT's Spring and Fall Semester International Tourism Programs are designed for tourism students who wish to gain world experience while studying for academic credit. During the 10 weeks of the program, participants take four courses:
Spanish
Cultural Heritage
Analysis of the Mexican Tourism Industry
Regional Cuisine
Experiential learning also plays a large role:
The students live with a Yucatecan family, which enables them to practice Spanish and situates them in an environment where they are able to get to know the culture first-hand.
Thirteen days of visiting tourism and cultural attractions in south-eastern Mexico teaches the students about Mexico 's tourism product and the diversity of the country.
A community service activity and the auditing of a TTT Tourism Geography course (delivered in Spanish) are additional components that enrich the students' learning.
Most students who take International Tourism come from one of TTT's partner colleges in Canada and the U.S.A. Acceptance of students from non-partner institutions is assessed on an individual basis.
