Spring Semester International Business Certificate
This is a new initiative at TTT. It will be offered for the first time in January 2008.
The Spring Semester International Business Certificate is designed for Canadian and American Business students, graduates and professionals interested in “doing better business in Mexico”. The program features four academic courses:
* Business Spanish
* Analysis of Business Fundamentals in Mexico
* Economy of Mexico
* Cultural Issues and Business in Mexico
A two week work practicum, visits to local businesses, sightseeing throughout southeastern Mexico , a community service project, full cultural immersion and other experiential learning components are all part of the program. The ten weeks the participants spend in Merida will broaden the perspective they have of our world and in turn will enhance their personal and professional development.
Except when other program activities occur, the participants will be attending classes at TTT, Monday to Friday, from 8 AM – 12:30 PM. Apart from the classroom hours, they will have home assignments which will require approximately two additional hours each day. There will also be five weekend excursions to various parts of southeastern Mexico . This will expose the participants to the socio-economic infrastructure and diversity of the country.
The final important component of the program is the home stay. Participants will be placed in homes of Yucatecan families and will live as members of the household. The families do their utmost to help their guests learn about the Yucatecan way of life. This is also an excellent environment for practicing Spanish.
