University Inter-sessions

“In May 2004, I participated in an Inter-session that was organized by the University of New Brunswick 's Department of Anthropology. Our group spent 3 weeks studying and traveling in south-eastern Mexico . We saw many archaeological sites, spent time on great beaches and visited many other interesting places. We studied Spanish and learned about the area's culture and gastronomy. Our classes were held at Tecnología Turística Total and we had a chance to get to know some of the students from that college. They took us to some local clubs and helped us get good buys at the markets. It was a good chance for us to practise Spanish and for them to practise English and French. I really enjoyed the intersession and would urge others to take part in this great opportunity.”

Inter-session programs are very popular among undergraduate students as they allow the participants to gain academic credit for courses taken outside their university's academic calendar months. Many of these programs are offered off-campus in international settings, which adds an experiential learning and travel component. TTT has hosted university inter-sessions since 1993.

TTT's location in Merida , Yucatan , Mexico offers many possibilities for such programs. The city is the cultural hub of south-eastern Mexico , an excellent location for students from Anthropology, Architecture, History, Latin American Studies, Spanish and other faculties. Many attractions such as archeological sites, ecological parks, beaches and Mexican colonial cities are easily accessible from Merida . The city has a hospitality infrastructure to suit all budgets.

Through Casa Internacional Mérida (CIM), Inter-session groups and field schools can be arranged. It is possible to contract TTT's instructors, use classrooms, equipment and other facilities. CIM can also coordinate accommodation, transportation and other needs the group may have.
